characteristics: hardy, spreading, vigorous; leaves: mainly narrow
elliptic, serrate, glossy on upperside, glabrous on both sides, apex acuminate, base
cuneate, lenth : width ratio 2.0, petioles are 2.5 to 4.0 cm long, fall color is mostly
bright orange-yellow to rusty orange, beautiful display of fall foliage.
- Flower characteristics: strong and pleasant fragrance, large, 5.0 cm in diameter;
pedicel: red; petals: overlapping, conic with a crenate margin, medium red-purple on both
sides over a white ground color; full bloom: third week of May (Frelighsburg, QC).
- Fruit characteristics: very small, 1.1 cm diameter, round to slightly oval,
symmetric, no ribbing; basin: very shallow, narrow, calyx is not persistent; cavity:
absent; stem: thin, very long; skin: smooth, waxy, thick, washed with dark red fading to
orange-red over a greenish-yellow ground, inconspicuous lenticels; fruits persist beyond
leaf fall.
- Other characteristics: diseases and pests resistant.

availability: Good for Quebec and
Eastern and Central Canada. A limited number of budwood is available from the breeder
after signing a non-propagation agreement (only to universities and research stations).
