Origin: introduced in 1923 by N.E. Hansen of the South Dakota Experimental Station, Brookings, South Dakota. Shiro (P.
angustifolia x P. cerasifera x P. salicina x P. simonii) x Surprise (possibly P. americana x P. hortulana mineri). Hybrid type
plum. Fruit: medium size, round-ovate, 35 mm diameter; skin: bright red with bluish bloom; flesh: yellow, firm, juicy; flavor:
good, sweetish, subacid; quality: good for fresh eating; ripening season: mid-August in Frelighsburg. Tree:
hardy in Frelighsburg, La Pocatiere and Morden, weak to medium vigor, upright-spreading, diameter of
trunk at 25 cm after 6 years of growth was 243 mm in La Pocatiere; yield: productive in
Frelighsburg, productive in La Pocatiere 7 years after planting (rated 3 of 4 for yield at
that time).

juteuse; saveur : bonne, plutôt sucrée, sub-acide; qualité : bonne pour la
consommation en frais; époque de maturité : mi-août à Frelighsburg. Prunier :
rustique à Frelighsburg, La Pocatière et Morden, faiblement à moyennement
vigoureux, dressé-étalé, à tronc atteignant 243 mm de diamètre à 25 cm après 6 ans
de croissance à La Pocatière; rendement : élevé à Frelighsburg, élevé à La Pocatière
7 ans après la plantation (cote de 3 sur 4).
