Origin: Mr. Smith, Long Island, New York. Seedling of ‘Orleans’ raised about 1825. P. domestica. European type plum. Fruit:
41 x 38 mm, oval, compressed, with somewhat unequal halves; cavity: shallow, narrow; apex: roundish or depressed; suture:
very shallow or sometimes a line; stem: 19 mm long, adheres to fruit; skin: below medium in thickness, tender, sour,
separates easily from flesh, dark purplish-black, thick bloom, dots inconspicuous; flesh: pale yellow, juicy, tender, coarse;
stone: cling; flavor: sweet, pleasant; quality: average, good for fresh eating and for cooking; ripening season: September 23 in
La Pocatiere. Tree: hardy in La Pocatiere where it was evaluated for 21 years, large, vigorous, spreading, open-topped, annual
bearer, starts bearing at 7 years; yield: very productive, average was 29.7 kg/tree in La Pocatiere during a 10 year period with
the best trees producing as much as 93 kg of fruit; flowering: June 2 to 9 in La Pocatiere. Other: well adapted to a wide range
of climates and soils.

Fruit : 41 x 38 mm, ovale, aplati, plutôt asymétrique; cavité pédonculaire : peu profonde, étroite; sommet : arrondi ou en
creux; suture : très peu profonde ou parfois limitée à une ligne; pédoncule : long de 19 mm, bien fixé au fruit; peau :
d’épaisseur inférieure à la moyenne, tendre, sure, se séparant facilement de la chair, noir violacé foncé, très pruinée, à points
peu marqués; chair : jaune pâle, juteuse, tendre, à texture grossière; noyau : adhérent; saveur : sucrée, agréable; qualité :
moyenne, bonne pour la consommation en frais et la cuisson; époque de maturité : le 23 septembre à La Pocatière. Prunier :
rustique à La Pocatière où le cultivar a été évalué pendant 21 ans, grand, vigoureux, étalé, à houppier clairsemé, produisant
chaque année, produisant à partir de 7 ans; rendement : très élevé, 29,7 kg/arbre en moyenne
sur dix ans à La Pocatière, les meilleurs arbres donnant jusqu’à 93 kg de fruit; floraison : du 2
au 9 juin à La Pocatière. Autres caractéristiques : bien adapté à une vaste
gamme de climats et de sols.
